Nate Busko has spent 12 of his 17 years running from his past

Tired of being bounced from foster home to foster home, he now lives in his car, eats corn husks, and uses track workouts as an opportunity to shower.

He is haunted only by fragments of traumatic memories from his past

When night falls, he can no longer be distinguished from the school’s confident, upbeat personality.

Enter Stan Deen, a popular high school drama teacher dealing with his own problems

She sees Nate’s hidden talent and need for care and guidance that other teachers don’t have, and she wants to help.

But in a shocking turn of events, Nate is arrested in the middle of school and marched away in handcuffs

Stan follows Nate to the police station and not only arranges bail, but agrees to take Nate to his home, despite the raised eyebrows of his fellow teachers.

Stan is willing to do anything to help his student in need
