In New York City, the borough of Manhattan, which are a series of numbered “Avenues”; intersected by smaller numbered streets. I watched this out of curiosity, not expecting much, I was just surprised to see Stallone in a TV series. There’s a sense of tension in the scenes, it also feels pretty realistic when the plot calls for it. I wouldn’t say it’s humorous, but there are a couple of funny scenes with Dwight (Stallone) getting out of prison for 25 years and not fully integrated into the way the world works now; so I suppose the sudden transition will present him with some interesting complications for us.
I’m glad someone told him how to use Uber, it was fun while it lasted
It’s a pretty clever script, but not in a forcefully witty way, which bodes well. Of course Stallone is a huge presence, but the rest of the cast seems pretty good. The show literally feels like you’ve taken the gangsters written for an early 90s movie and just thrown them into 2022, so it’s a good mix of humor and violence. I thought it was going to be a throwaway show like some of the Stallones’ recent movies have been; mostly just relying on his name and performances, but Taylor Sheridan does a good job with writing worthy of Stallone’s performances.
I went in with no high expectations
I think it’s going to be fun to watch the macho Stallone build a criminal empire from scratch, in the middle of Tulsa. I love how it has a Western feel to it at times, even though it’s still mafia. I think the show might go under the radar, and then it could catch on later with people asking how they never realized it before because I haven’t seen that many Paramount commercials. , but if the premiere is anything to go by, this could be a really fun watch.
If it keeps up like this, great, if it gets better, that’s great
I’ll add a rating when more episodes are released, and update if there are any dramatic changes to the show. Check out the synopsis for "Yellowstone" Season 5, Part 2, "Squid Game" Season 2 and more of the most anticipated new and returning series coming to TV and streaming.
